History and Impact of JG Zuma High School

Established in 1997, Ekuthuleni Combined School was built by the Inanda Community Development Trust to address the educational needs of the local community. In 2003, the school was separated into two distinct institutions: Ekuthuleni Primary School and JG Zuma High School. Named after the then Deputy President of South Africa, the Honourable Mr. Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma, JG Zuma High School officially opened its doors in 2005.

WHO WE SERVICE?

OUR IMPACT

JG Zuma High School serves as a vital educational institution in the KwaBester and INK community, addressing the needs of students from various socio-economic backgrounds. As one of only two secondary schools in the area, it plays a crucial role in providing quality education to learners from four neighboring primary schools: Ekuthuleni, uBuhlebethu, Siphumelele, and Bhekilanga. This influx of students has led to challenges such as overcrowded classrooms, with an average of 60 learners per class, making it difficult to accommodate all those seeking admission.

The school is committed to ensuring that every child has access to education, which is particularly important in an area where many families face economic hardships. Parents from as far as Ntuzuma, Inanda, and Umzinyathi have sought admission for their children at JG Zuma High School, reflecting the school’s reputation for academic excellence and the desire for quality education among local families. The school’s ability to attract students from these areas underscores its significance as an educational hub within the community.

Thusi's tenure, Ms. TK Ngcobo took over as principal, promoting a caring environment within the school community. Currently, Mr. TW Mthembu leads the institution, continuing to uphold the legacy of his predecessors by maintaining high educational standards and fostering a supportive atmosphere for both staff and students.

JG Zuma High School serves students from Grade 8 to Grade 12 and is one of only two secondary schools in the KwaBester and INK community. The school receives learners from four neighboring primary schools: Ekuthuleni, uBuhlebethu, Siphumelele, and Bhekilanga. This influx has led to significant challenges, including overcrowded classrooms, with an average of 60 students per class. The total enrollment currently stands at approximately 1,518 learners, reflecting the high demand for quality education in the area.
